About Jacksonville
Jacksonville is coming off a 14-5 exhibition win over the Wales national team Monday. In their last regular-season game, the Dolphins suffered a 10-9 overtime loss to Towson on Feb. 13. Each game was played at Southern Oak Stadium.
Danielle Della Rocca<http://judolphins.com/sports/wlax/2015-16/bios/della_rocca_danielle_urdo> finished with a game-high four goals Feb. 13. Netminder Kaylyn Kearns<http://judolphins.com/sports/wlax/2015-16/bios/kearns_kaylyn_1fa9> had five stops for the Dolphins.
The Green and White recorded 19 shots against the Tigers. Jacksonville was 14-of-16 on clear attempts.
About Winthrop
Winthrop faced Wales in an exhibition on Sunday in Veterans Park in St. John’s, Fla., and opens its season Friday against the Dolphins.
Winthrop is coming off the most successful season in school and conference history, finishing last year with a 17-4 overall record, 6-1 mark in the Big South while winning the conference’s regular-season and tournament titles and a trip to the NCAA Championship. The Eagles, however, must replace the nation’s leading scorer from last season, Jenna Kasmarik, due to graduation.
Winthrop is the preseason favorite to repeat as the league champion and is guided by Shannon Gallagher, the Big South’s only three-time first team All-Big South selection. She is the team’s top returning scorer, finishing last year with 54 goals and 20 assists while also causing a team-high 52 turnovers. The 2015 Big South Freshman of the Year Alaina Girani allowed fewer than eight goals per game and posted a .470 save percentage to lead the conference and rank 16th in the country in both categories.
Winthrop surrendered only 8.10 goals per game last season which ranked the squad at the top of the Big South and 16th in the country.
‘Fin Facts
Friday’s game for the Dolphins is the third of a seven-game home slate to begin the year.
The Dolphins are 50-17 all-time at home.
Jacksonville has outscored Winthrop 43-17 in two prior meetings.
Jacksonville has won six of its last nine non-conference games at home.
Taylor McCord<http://judolphins.com/sports/wlax/2015-16/bios/mccord_taylor_f5vi> has averaged 3.5 goals in two career games against the Eagles. She also poured in four assists in the 2014 win at Winthrop.

Kirstin Purdy<http://judolphins.com/sports/wlax/2015-16/bios/purdy_kirstin_9tqt> had two goals and an assist in the 2014 win over the Eagles.
Della Rocca leads the conference this season in goals (5) and points (5).
Della Rocca earned her third career Atlantic Sun Conference (A-Sun) Player of the Week honor on Tuesday after scoring four goals against Towson last weekend, including a hat trick in the space of just three minutes in the first half.
With the four-goal performance, Della Rocca passed former teammate and current Dolphins’ assistant coach Brittney Orashen<http://judolphins.com/sports/wlax/coaches/Orashen_Brit> (83) for third in league history and is now tied with Howard’s Cynthia Smalls for second all-time with 84 goals. Della Rocca is 22 goals shy of breaking the all-time A-Sun record of 105 set by former teammate Holly Ventimiglia.
Della Rocca ranks fifth in school history in goals and is 16 shy of passing Orashen for fourth. (Note: Jacksonville was not a member of the A-Sun in 2012 during Orashen’s and Ventimiglia’s freshmen seasons and does not include career goals from that season in their conference totals.)
Taylor McCord is tied for first in the A-Sun with two assists.
Freshmen accounted for eight goals and three assists in the Dolphins’ 14-5 win over Wales.
Della Rocca and Lillie Miller<http://judolphins.com/sports/wlax/2015-16/bios/miller_lillie_xv04> combined to score the first six goals for the Dolphins on Monday, as each player netted a hat trick a little more than halfway into the match.
