#7 Spartans Women Snag Win in First Home Game of the Season

TAMPA, FL. – The No. 7 University of Tampa women’s lacrosse team come out triumphant against LMU in their first home game of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Quarter: The game opens with Tampa winning the first draw control. From here, Julia Kolderman takes a shot at the goal, but it doesn’t connect. This didn’t matter as Sarah Hinkle connected with the back of the net on the next posession. From here, Tampa went on a long scoring streak scoring 9 answered goals. In the last minute of the quarter, LMU sneaks a goal in to put their first points of the night on the board. Mekelsey Montgomery responded back with a goal in the last three seconds. The goals for the Spartans were scored as follows:

12:50 – Julia Kolderman, unassisted

12:29 – Lizzie Pierpont, assisted by Allie Peebles

11:25 – Julia Kolderman, unassisted

Second Quarter: The second quarter started with Tampa securing the first draw control. Tampa then continued their dominance with their defense poking at every ball and fighting for every possession. Despite many attempts, LMU couldn’t get the ball to connect with the net. Olivia Mott, on the other hand, scored the only two goals for Tampa this quarter. The Spartan goals headed into halftime were scored as follows:

11:11 – Olivia Mott, unassisted

3:03 – Olivia Mott, unassisted

Score: 13-1 (Tampa)

Third Quarter: LMU won the first draw control of the third quarter. They attempted their first shot on goal, but it was saved by Alex Walling. Tampa responds with a goal by Sarah Hinkle. LMU then finds the back of the net again giving them their second point of the night. The Spartans goals were scored as follows:

13:00 – Sarah Hinkle, assisted by Emma McLoughlin

11:17 – Emma McLoughlin, unassisted

Score: 15-2 (Tampa)

Fourth Quarter: The fourth quarter started with Tampa winning the draw control. Tampa scores first, then LMU scores. Tampa ends the game with two goals and conquer LMU at home. The Spartan goals for the fourth quarter were scored as follows:

12:50 – Kayla Brennan, unassisted

3:50 – Ali Hoyt, assisted by Sarah Hinkle

0:12 – Lizzie Pierpont, assisted by Caitlin Miller

Final: 18-4 (Tampa)
