Rock Hill, S.C.—-Wingate University freshman Dylan Rupprecht has been named the Varsity Gems South Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse Specialist of the Week, league officials announced Monday morning. Rupprecht earns Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Rupprecht’s big day led #8 Wingate to a 20-8 victory over Tusculum in the SAC opener. The freshman won 12-of-16 face-offs against the Pioneers, while also piling up eight ground balls on the day.

Rupprecht has won 19 of his 33 face-offs through four games this season, posting a team-best .576 face-off percentage. He has picked up 13 ground balls on the year, ranking fifth on the team in ground balls.

The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday, heading to Charlotte for the Crown Classic to take on #10 Limestone at 4:30 p.m. at American Legion Stadium. Wingate defeated the Saints in overtime in last season’s Crown Classic showdown. The teams met again in the NCAA National Quarterfinals in Gaffney.
