No. 6 Keiser women’s lacrosse closed out their regular season schedule with a dominant 21-5 win over St. Thomas at home. Chloe Foley led the scoring for the Seahawks with another four-goal performance. Hayley Frew tied her career-high of five assists in a game while Madison Andrews added five more points on two goals and three assists. Keiser has now clinched a spot in the Sun Conference Tournament which they will be hosting on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20.
Before the game, Keiser honored its seven seniors (Milena Isturiz, Sydney Passaro, Krystal Beebe, Sydney Parker, Dakota Joseph, Haley Knudsen, and Jasmine Sidawi) for all of their contributions to the program.
Keiser 7, St. Thomas 1
- Sydney Parker scored the first goal of her career with 14:01 on the game clock.
- The native Sebastian, Florida, streaked down the middle of the field for a one-on-one with the STU keeper.
- With 12:50 left in the first, Madison Andrews gave Keiser a 2-0 lead with her 16th goal of the season (assisted by Hayley Frew).
- The Seahawks took a 3-0 lead following a goal by Chloe Foley. The score was her 29th of the season, coming off an assist by Frew (her second of the quarter).
- Foley scored again, this time with a man-up goal with 6:46 on the game clock. MacKenzie Gibaud was credited with an assist on the score.
- After a St. Thomas timeout, Emily McCall extended Keiser’s lead to 5-0 (6:17).
- Goal number six for Keiser came on a score by Krystal Beebe – her 11th of the season (5:41).
- STU got on the board with a goal by Olivia Parker with 3:42 left in the first.
- Keiser regained its six-goal lead as Gibaud found the back of the net with 1:50 on the clock. The score was set up on a free position attempt by Peyton Tomlinson (credited with the assist).
Keiser 14, St. Thomas 3
- It didn’t take long for Keiser to score in the second quarter as Milena Isturiz (from Madison Andrews) recorded KU’s eighth goal of the game with 14:32 left in the half.
- Andrews netted another goal for the Seahawks less than a minute later as Keiser led, 9-1.
- The Bobcats scored their second goal of the game on a goal by Kaitlyn Chmelir (8:17).
- Kamille Thomas recorded her sixth goal of the season, giving Keiser a 10-2 lead (6:30).
- Frew notched her third assist of the game, setting up a goal by Haley Knudsen with 5:52 left in the half (11-2).
- Carly Chretien pushed the lead to 10 (running clock) with her 11th goal of 2024. Andrews notched her third assist of the afternoon (5:04).
- The scoring continued with a man-up goal by Abbey Cannon, giving the Seahawks a 13-2 lead with 3:54 left in the half.
- A second goal by Thomas made it 14-2 in favor of the Seahawks with 1:43 on the clock.
- St. Thomas got the last goal of the half, cutting the Keiser lead to 14-3.
Keiser 19, St. Thomas 4
- The Seahawks added three more goals with scores by Samantha Esher (14:17), Sydney Passaro (11:37), and Foley (9:34) to make it a 17-4 game.
- Passaro scored her second goal of the game on an assist by Esher with 7:23 on the game clock (18-3).
- Abbey Cannon found Esher for her 17th goal of the season as Keiser led, 19-4, with 1:57 left in the third.
Keiser 21, St. Thomas 5
- Isturiz (14:48) and Foley (13:33) produced goals number 20 and 21 for the Seahawks.
- Ashjan Aljafaary scored a man-up goal for the Bobcat with 10:12 left to play.
- Keiser improves to 10-6 on the year with the win.
- KU closes out the regular season with a 4-2 record in the Sun Conference.
- The Seahawks have secured a spot in the Sun Conference Tournament on Friday, April 19 with their opponent still to be determined.
- Andrews, Foley, and Frew all tallied five points on the day to lead Keiser in scoring.
- Foley notched a game-best four goals for the third time this season.
- Frew collected five assists in the game.
- Isturiz recorded five caused turnovers in the contest to lead all players.
- In the circle, Beebe and Andrews each grabbed four draw controls.
- Margaret Wroe got the start and recorded six saves on nine shots faced.
- The Seahawks held the Bobcats to a 40.9% clear rate over the course of the game.
