BOX SCORE

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women’s lacrosse team extended its win streak to eight games with a 19-11 win over Alabama-Huntsville on Wednesday. The Eagles scored five goals in three of the four quarters of Wednesday’s game to remain unbeaten at 8-0 on the year.

The Blue and Gold scored four goals within a three-minute span to open a 4-1 lead over the Chargers in the first quarter. ERAU outmanned the Chargers 5-2 on the draw and outshot the visitors 10-3 on the way to a 5-1 advantage at the end of the first 15 minutes.

The Chargers had an 11-8 advantage in shots in the second quarter, but it was the Eagles who better capitalized on their opportunities. ERAU scored on five of its eight shots, including two free position attempts, compared to just two scores by UAH. At the half, the Eagle lead had swelled to seven (10-3).

The roles were reversed in the third quarter as it was the Chargers who took advantage of their chances in front of the cage scoring on five of seven shots, while the Eagles netted just four of their 11 attempts. After the Eagles scored three unanswered to start the third, the Chargers rattled off three straight goals of their own and trailed by just six (14-8) heading into the final period.

UAH looked to continue their scoring run in the final frame and tallied the first goal of the fourth, but the Eagles, behind three goals from Zariah Durham, put the game out of reach with another five-goal quarter.

Durham joined Sallie Squire with four goals apiece on the night. Elizabeth Ninesling and Murphy McDonough posted identical three-goal, two-assist performances with Ninesling winning seven draws.

Cara Brown finished with four goals for the Chargers who fall to 2-4 with the loss.

Next up for the Eagles in a 1 p.m. fixture against No. 21 Saint Anselm on Friday at the ERAU Lacrosse Field.
