Barring any major upset the regional final will be the matchup of Jupiter and St. Thomas. They played earlier in the season and STA came away with the one-goal win at Jupiter, which was the only loss for the Warriors. Jupiter lost a few big games late in the season due to Covid and STA is coming off their own play suspension this week. Boca Raton played well down the stretch and will battle Stoneman for that district.
In District 13, if there was not a Jupiter there, you would have a highly competitive District, with a number of teams that put up good schedules. Wellington, Palm Beach Central and Dwyer are all competitive with each other but there is one alpha dog around and they go on.
In District 14 it is Boca and Stoneman and right now both are capable.
In District 15 it is STA and Western, but Western has slumped some late in the season after their own Covid suspension and STA was the heavy favorite anyhow.
In District 16 there is an interesting semifinal between West Broward and Palmetto as they played a two-goal game earlier in the season. Columbus finished with the #1 seed but they have been as hot and cold as anyone in the area so this District is wide open in my opinion . . . whoever plays their game gets their shot at STA in round one.
So I can see Boca-Jupiter and STA-District 16 with Jupiter-STA playing for the right to play for Orlando and right now I like Jupiter due to STA’s late season suspension, it will be tough for them to get fully back on track.
