MCLA: FSU #17 and UF #26 in D1; FGCU #11 and UNF #22 in D2 Poll

  via the MCLA press release   ATLANTA – On the strength of a shutout victory over SLC rival San Diego State, Chapman stole seven first place votes from Utah and moved into second place in the Under Armour Week 5 MCLA Division I Coaches Poll. Emboldened by 10 first place votes and 626 total points, the Panthers (8-0) leapfrogged defending national champion Grand Canyon (6-0), which had 609 points and four first-place votes. Both Chapman and the Lopes remained behind top-ranked Utah (630 points, 12 1st votes). The shift is a dramatic departure from last week when Utah snagged 20 first-place votes and was 25 points clear of second place Grand Canyon. Michigan State (8-0) and Colorado (6-1) round out the Top 5. Colorado State (3-4) departs the poll this week to make way for No. 16 New Hampshire (3-1). The only difference appears to be an abundance of ties. Grand Valley State (2-1) and St. John’s (7-1) are tied at the No. 5 spot, while Missouri State (5-2) and Wake Forest (7-0) are stacked up at No. 18 and North Florida (6-4) and Providence (1-3) are sharing No. 22. Other than Northern Arizona (5-1) moving into the Top 10, the hard facts are the same as they have been for the last month: North Dakota State (6-0) is in control with 19 of 20 first place votes and a 20 point lead. Minn.-Duluth (6-2) continues its role as second fiddle while fellow UMLC colleagues St. Thomas (6-1) and Dayton (4-1) round out the Top 5. Central Conn.
