NAIA: Ave Maria Lady Gyrene Lacrosse Falls At #4 Keiser 14-6

  via Ave Maria press release   WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Ave Maria women’s lacrosse team took on fourth-ranked Keiser for a second-consecutive time on Saturday afternoon. After a high-scoring game in their previous meeting, Keiser won more of a defensive game today, 14-6. Georgia Miller started the scoring for this afternoon’s contest with a goal 4:28 into the game. Keiser responded 12 seconds later and then again a minute later to take a 2-1 lead. Millet netted her second goal of the game at the 20:12 mark to tie the game at two. Keiser scored five of the next seven goals with a Miller goal at 12:40 mark and a Aiyanah Simms goal with 1:54 to play in the first half. Keiser added a goal with 16 seconds to play in the half to take a 8-4 lead into the break. The Seahawks scored two straight to open the second half. The Lady Gyrenes responded with two of their own by Anneliese Sawick and Miller to make it 10-6. Keiser scored the final four goals of the game to make the final 14-6. Ave Maria was out shot 27-16 in shots on goal. Keiser held an advantage in ground balls, 26-19, and draw controls, 14-8. Miller led the Lady Gyrenes with four goals on six shots. Andie Wagner took the loss in net for AMU. She made 13 saves on the afternoon. The Blue and Green return to action on Sunday, April 15, when they host top-ranked SCAD-Savannah at 11 a.m. It is the home finale for the Lady Gyrenes.
