PBA: Men’s Lacrosse Picks Up First Home Win, Defeating Dominican 12-8

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – After falling behind early the Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse team came charging back to pick up their first home win in program history, defeating Dominican 12-8 on Monday night.

The Sailfish trailed early as the Chargers (0-2) scored the first two goals. Zack Figura got PBA on the board with 4:27 to go in the first but Dominican answered just 18 seconds later. Anthony Cresto scored for PBA before the end of the first quarter as the Chargers led 3-2.

Things turned around for the ‘Fish (2-2) in the second as Ted Hollander scored off an assist from Jackson Millerjust 37 seconds into the quarter. After a Dominican goal, PBA scored the next three to take a 6-4 lead into halftime. Blake Israel, Cresto and Pearse Brolly all scored during the run.

In the second half Dominican cut the deficit to one heading into the fourth but PBA outscored the Chargers 5-1 in the fourth to secure the win. Brolly, Israel and Figura all picked up their second goals on the night in the fourth. Hollander and Cresto also finished the game with two goals for PBA.

On the night 11 different players picked up a point with Colin Hayek scoring his first goal for the ‘Fish. Trevor Keenarounded out the goal scorers on the night for PBA.

Dominican turned the ball over 20 times in the game thanks to 10 caused turnovers for PBA. Harrison Wood led PBA with three caused turnovers. Alex Aken led the team with eight ground balls as the team secured 49. Landon Johnson won 13 of the 24 face offs and also collected three ground balls. Ben Savick made 14 saves between the pipes for the ‘Fish.

PBA is back in action on the road as they begin a three-game road trip to South Carolina on Saturday. The ‘Fish will take on the Cobras from Coker on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Hartsville, S.C.
