SSC Men: #1 Ranked Spartans Take Down #15 Florida Southern 22-7

  via Tampa press release   BOX SCORE LAKELAND Fla. – The No. 1 ranked University of Tampa Spartans men’s lacrosse team traveled to Lakeland to face off against the No. 15 ranked Florida Southern Mocs for their second away game of the year. INSIDE THE MATCHUP: Final: No. 2 Tampa 22, No. 15 Florida Southern 7 Records: Spartans (3-0), Mocs (0-1) Location: Barnett Athletic Complex || Lakeland, Fla. HOW IT HAPPENED: FIRST QUARTER Tampa came out firing on all cylinders as the Spartans were able to take an early 4-0 advantage within the first few minutes of play. Senior transfer Ben French and sophomore transfer Daniel Fitzpatrick each scored two early goals for the Spartans as Fitzpatrick scored his first and second of the season. Sophomore Charlie BoleshHear how to pronounce Charlie Bolesh and junior Owen Miller were each able to net goals for the Spartans. || Score: 6-1 Tampa SECOND QUARTER The Mocs scored back-to-back goals to open the second quarter and cut the Spartans lead down to four. However, two quick goals by Luke McAnaneyHear how to pronounce Luke McAnaney and Shane HanlonHear how to pronounce Shane Hanlon increased the Tampa lead. The Spartans were able to notch seven additional goals to going into halftime leading by 10. French led all scorers heading into the half with four goals. || Score: 13-3 Tampa THIRD QUARTER Within seconds of the start of the half, McAnaney netted his second goal of the night to open up the Spartans scoring in the third quarter of play. Scott Phillips and Bryan Wright quickly followed to score their first goals of the evening. Florida Southern was able to score two goals in the third quarter. || Score: 17-5 Tampa FOURTH QUARTER Tampa continued their dominance on offense in the final quarter of play as five Spartans were able to net goals in the quarter.
