JU Men: Seth Hogue Named Inaugural Maxwell Hartong Endowment Award Recipient
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville University Athletics has announced Men’s Lacrosse player, Seth Hogue, as the inaugural recipient of the Maxwell Hartong Endowment Award. Hogue saw action in all fours seasons for the Dolphins, earning the Iron Phin Award in 2022 and honor roll honors throughout his time in Jacksonville.
The award, in its first year, is to pay tribute to Max Hartong and thank the JU men’s lacrosse team for its unwavering support in their time of need, the Hartongs established The Maxwell Hartong Memorial Award Fund in 2023 so that future men’s lacrosse players can follow their dreams the way Max did. The fund will support a graduating senior or alumnus of the men’s lacrosse team who plans to attend graduate school.Bryan & Cindy Hartong: “We established the Maxwell Hartong Endowment Award to keep Max’s legacy alive by helping others pursue their dreams. Max had a deep sense of purpose and was always striving to better himself and help others. His dedication to achieving his goals and his drive to be successful in all he did was contagious. We feel Seth embodies these qualities through his leadership, work ethic, and tenacious pursuit of his dreams. We could not be more proud to give the inaugural award to Seth Hogue.”

John Galloway, JU Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach: “Seth is the perfect candidate to serve as the inaugural recipient of the Maxwell Hartong Endowment Award. In the last four years, Seth has established himself as one of the most impressive student-athletes we have ever seen in our program. His work ethic, both on and off the field, was unmatched. This was affirmed when Seth received the Student of the Year award for the Davis College of Business and Technology the same year he was named team captain by his peers. His leadership and daily actions will be used as examples of what we want the players in our program to represent, and we know he will put this award to great use!”
Seth Hogue: “I am deeply grateful to be a recipient of the Max Hartong Memorial Scholarship. Your generosity not only supports my education but also inspires me to embody Max’s spirit of passion and determination. Thank you for honoring Max’s legacy in such a meaningful way. I am committed to upholding his values and making the most of this opportunity.”
Hogue will head to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to obtain a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Hogue finished his final season with the Dolphins as a team captain, with Galloway complimenting his role within the program before the season saying, “He (Seth Hogue) is a commander of this program. He demands excellence from himself on the field and in the classroom. His work ethic is unmatched. He has served in so many roles for this team, and his promotion to this role couldn’t be more deserved. We will follow Seth anywhere.”
