LAKE WALES, Fla – The Royals Women’s Lacrosse program has seen significant improvement this season winning multiple accolades throughout their second season, and their first under the helm of Corbett Day.
The Lady Royals saw their first win in Program history on February 9th in Emory, VA against Emory & Henry College, and started off on a roll winning their first four games of the year starting with an incredible 4-0 start to the 2024 season. They followed it up with their first home victory on March 2nd against the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan University. Warner Women’s Lacrosse also saw their first 100 goal season from Freshman Bailey Dykes who earned First Team SUN Conference Team honors to finish out the season. The Captain of the ship, head coach Corbett Day, has a long history in the sport of lacrosse as he started coaching 14 years ago and looks to continue to improve the program in his second season next year.

He has also coached the last two and a half years at the Lake Wales Boy’s Lacrosse program and helped a team with not much success reach the district championships the last two seasons before taking on the Women’s Team this past year.
When asked about the future of the Royals Women’s Lacrosse program Coach Day says, ” I believe we have all the right people to continue the growth to a more successful program. I have been working hard on recruiting the right team members to join our team in the fall as we continue to develop. I also worked hard to secure an assistant coach that will be joining our staff and help with the continued growth of our players. As long as we keep “God First” in everything we do, we will continue to be successful.”
Coach Day is a student of the game and is always looking to improve in every aspect of his life, setting goals every year to continue to grow as a program as well as a coach and mentor. ” I have always been a student of the game, by constant education, networking, film watching and digging in God’s Word, I believe that it will enable me to be a teacher who will be able to better educate our players on how to be successful on and off the field. My past experiences have allowed me to consistently grow as a coach and now to take over a women’s team at one of the highest levels has only pushed me to be the best at my craft and I promised the girls to continue to grow and find ways to make everyone better that wears that Royals Jersey.”
With all of his recruits, Coach Day shares three big things for his current players that incoming athletes can look forward to. There are three things that I share with every recruit I have talked to this summer and they are the following:
1.) Our girls took time before each game to write THANK YOU notes to all of our competitors on the other sideline and handed them out post game whether we won or lost just as a note of encouragement for the remainder of the season and a biblical reference to challenge them.
2.) The girls have always vowed to give 100% as a team, no matter how bad anyone was feeling they had each other’s back.
3.) This team is the tightest knit team and they love team bonding – it comes in so many different avenues, but is a priority for our girls.”
Athletic Director Sean Hanrahan had some big praise for his second year Lacrosse Coach as he said, “This season Coach Corbett Day demonstrated his will to win and the special ability to teach his team the nuances of the game. When I dove in deeper, I found out he is extremely passionate about witnessing to his team and their opponents about our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. I was so impressed when I received a letter from a visiting AD that Coach Day’s team wrote notes of encouragement to our opponents and prayed with them after the game. It showed who we really are and the direction of this program under his leadership. I can’t wait to see what God has planned next.”
