JU Women’s Lacrosse Falls to #2 UNC

Chapel Hill, NC. – Sarah Elms recorded five goals and one assist on Saturday when the Women’s Lacrosse team dropped a tough contest to North Carolina by a score of 17-10.

UNC started out hot jumping out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and would continue their offensive dominance scoring another six goals on seven SOG in the second quarter. At half the score would read 11-4 in favor of the Tar Heels.

Coming out of halftime the Tar Heels would score four more unanswered goals stretching their lead to 11. Despite a valiant fourth quarter effort in which the Dolphins outscored UNC 5-2 JU would never threaten the lead, ultimately losing by seven goals.

Sarah Elms continued her offensive dominance from this season scoring five goals, moving her season total to 15. Her counterpart in the midfield Molly Brock also performed well having two of her own goals and an assist on one of Elms’ five.

Both Dolphin goalkeepers made appearances in the game with Addy Tysdal being awarded the loss having made only three saves on 18 SOG.

JU will look for a bounce back win for the second time this season when they return home on Saturday, March 5 to battle East Carolina at 1 pm.
