BOX SCORE

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s lacrosse team played its second game in as many days as they hosted Slippery Rock University tonight. The Sailfish fell behind quickly in the first and after a strong second quarter faded in the second half as they fell 22-6. The Sailfish record falls to 2-3 with the defeat.

The Rock came out of the gates quickly tonight and PBA had no answer in the opening quarter as PBA conceded the first six goals of the game. The draw-control battle was even throughout the night but PBA had too many uncaused turnovers that led to Slippery Rock possessions. Ella Howlin was the first Sailfish to get on the board when she scored with 3:55 left in the opening quarter and then again two minutes later. PBA trailed 7-2 after 15 minutes of play.

Courtney Rausch got the start at goalie again for PBA and made three saves before Georgia Karns was given a chance off the bench. Regardless of who was in goal for the ‘Fish, Slippery Rock created too many chances as they outshot PBA 36-16 and 29-13 in shots on goal. Howlin completed her hat trick with a goal in the second quarter while Addyson Johnson added two of her own but the Sailfish trailed 11-5 at the half.

The second half was all Slippery Rock as they outscored PBA 11-1 as Olivia Larges scored the lone ‘Fish goal in the half. Howlin led the way offensively as she now has eight goals on the season and is just one off of leading scorer Larges.

The Sailfish return to action in a week as they will hit the road for the first time this season. PBA will be at Flagler on March 21 with the Saints carrying a 6-1 record and multiple wins over Sunshine State Conference opponents to their name already.
