Lynn Collects SSC Win Over Embry-Riddle
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Graduate student Stephen Becker scored four goals and sophomore Dylan Colon handed out four assists as the Lynn University men’s lacrosse team earned a 15-8 win over Embry-Riddle in SSC action, Wednesday. The win snaps a three-game losing skid for the Fighting Knights and improved their record to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Lynn turned a narrow one-goal halftime lead into a 15-8 win behind a 9-3 scoring edge in the second half
– The Fighting Knights used an 8-1 scoring run in the second half to seal the win
– Lynn outshot the Eagles 40-26, finished a perfect 14-of-14 on clears and won 17-of-25 faceoffs
– Junior Connor Koppelman scored the game’s first goal for Lynn and Becker later added two scores as the hosts surged to a 5-2 cushion with 8:46 showing in the second
– The Eagles used a 3-0 scoring jolt over a three-minute stretch in the second as they tied the game at 5-5
– Becker scored off a pass from senior Jalen Stanton with 42 seconds left in the half as Lynn led 6-5 at intermission
– Becker scored a man-up goal to open the third quarter before Lynn used the 8-1 scoring run for the win
– Freshman Jackson Cutter and sophomore Tyler Van Wart each scored in the third to start the run
– Cutter and Van Wart added goals in the fourth, while senior Thomas Murray found the net twice in the fourth

Lynn Downs Men’s Lacrosse 15-8
BOCA RATON, Florida – The second half was not kind to the Embry-Riddle men’s lacrosse team on Wednesday night as the Eagles fell on the road to Lynn 15-8. The Fighting Knights (6-6, 1-2 SSC) outscored the Eagles (4-7, 0-4 SSC) by six goals in the last 30 minutes, turning a one-goal halftime lead into a seven-goal victory.
The story for the Eagles in the first half was Isaiah Hines as the junior from Texas tallied four goals, and with his third score of the game recorded his 100th collegiate career point.
It took both teams a while to find some offense as more than six minutes passed before the first goal of the game was scored. Lynn struck first, but Hines answered soon thereafter.
Lynn led 3-2 after the first quarter, and quickly added two more to their score to take a 5-2 cushion before Hines scored in quick succession, tallying back-to-back goals in just 13 seconds of game time.
Pete Abbes’s goal at the 1:28 mark level the game at 5-5, but the Fighting Knights took a slim lead into the break with a goal under a minute to play in the half. Lynn threatened for more int he final 20 seconds, but a pair of nice saves from Carter Groezinger kept the Eagle deficit at just 6-5.
The scoring in the second half started almost immediately with both teams trading goals in the first three minutes, the Eagles’ score coming from Coleman Jacobs. However, the hosts scored three of the quarter’s final four goals to go up 11-7 heading into the final 15 minutes.
Lynn registered the first six shots of the fourth quarter, scoring twice, ultimately taking a 15-7 lead before Jacob Schripsema accounted for the final ERAU goal of the night right before time expired in the contest.
A total of 12 penalties were called in the game, eight on the Eagles and four on the home team. Hines and Abbes each finished with four points, while Jacobs added a goal and an assist and Gavin Madden collected two helpers.
Embry-Riddle heads to (RV) Saint Leo on Saturday for a 1 p.m. SSC contest.
