BOX SCORE

Lynchburg, Va. — The Stetson University lacrosse team dropped its fifth straight contest as the Hatters fell 22-9 at Liberty University in their second ASUN Conference match-up of the year.

The Hatters (3-9, 0-2) fell behind early as the Flames took a 3-0 lead by the 11:05 mark in the 1st quarter. Molly Kearney got Stetson on the board at the 10:33 mark, but the Flames scored thrice more before the Hatters doubled their goals. Freshman Samantha Paglino netted her 21st goal of the year at the 7:06 mark to cut the deficit to 6-2. By the end of the quarter, the Flames held a 10-3 lead. LU continued to tack on more as the Flames led off the 2nd quarter with three straight goals. Saige-Lyn Gidzinski recorded a hat trick in the quarter alone and sent the game to intermission with the Flames ahead 15-6.

Out of the break, LU outscored the Hatters 4-1 in the 3rd as Paglino netted her third goal of the contest for the Hatters second hat trick of the day, but the Stetson offense failed to cut further into the Liberty lead. In the 4th, the Flames extended their lead despite two more Stetson goals, but it was not enough as the Hatters were on the wrong side of a 22-9 loss.

Kearey and Maria Snee each secured three draw controls while freshman Mia Judd scooped four ground balls on the afternoon.

The Hatters will be back in action on Saturday, April 16 as Stetson returns home to the ATC to square off against ASUN foe Jacksonville University. Game time is set for noon.
