Lauderdale/Miami.    Big contenders to advance out of this bracket include St. Thomas Aquinas, Columbus Catholic, and Barron Collier.  Gulliver Prep is certainly going to be in the conversation as well.

Gulf Coast could run away with District 27.  2015 middie Bo Garrison is possibly the best player in the district and is tough to stop.  Gulf Coast was 8-0 in district play last season and the only team in this district with a winning record. Although they will miss A.J. Carter (Florida Southern) there is no reason to think there will be any big changes coming into this season. Barron Collier will slice through District 28.  They won the district championship game in 2013 by a score of 15-0.  They faced Gulf Coast in the next round and won 15-3.  In fact, they didn’t stop until they lost a close game to Benjamin.  This year they should get to the final eight before they are really tested.
BC returns four of their top five scorers from 2013.  Although they will certainly miss All American Matt Ihm, they have a slew of kids who should play at the next level.  Including hard shooting junior Austin Miller (78 pts) and Sr. Mike O’Dey (65 pts).  Sophomore,

Brendan Ihm  is a young player who can have an impact at the attack spot.  Middies Drew Goodrich (junior), Matt Hobdan (sophomore), and Beckett Hagland (junior) along with addition of Colorado transfer Jake Telitz (junior) could make the Cougars a very dangerous team to defend.
They return a very stingy defensive unit that only allowed 3.97 goals per game last season anchored by juniors Micheal Nathan, Ben Beatty and Goalie Zach Woods.   Barron has the potential to make a long playoff run this year.     A challenging schedule awaits including a home game against St. Thomas Aquinas which  could be a prequel to the South bracket quarter finals.
