Excerpts:   LHP 9 – Hagerty 7   A little senior leadership went a long way for Lake Highland Prep’s boys lacrosse team on Thursday night. Nick Martin scored a hat trick in the third quarter and fellow 12th-grader EthanCarpenter scored two goals to lead a dramatic Lake Highland comeback in a hard-fought 9-7 state playoff victory against Hagerty at CNL Stadium. The host Highlanders scored three goals in the final four minutes to rally from a 7-6 deficit. LHP will play at rival Bishop Moore in a second round showdown on Tuesday night. The Highlanders, ranked No. 3 in the Sentinel Super Six, edged Bishop Moore 11-10 in the regular season. Lake Mary (14-5) outscored St. Augustine 15-7 to move on to the second round. The Rams will host Ponte Vedra (19-1) on Tuesday night. Hagerty (17-2), ranked No. 2 in the Super Six, used a clever slow-down offense to create problems all night for Lake Highland (14-6), which played tentative throughout the first half and trailed 4-2 at the break.   Bishop Moore 11 – West Orange 5   Jake Kiefer helped Bishop Moore survive a sloppy game, scoring six goals in an 11-5 home boys playoff win vs. West Orange 11-5. Bishop Moore (17-2) plays host to four-time state champ Lake Highland Prep on Tuesday. West Orange ends 17-3, losing 17 seniors and facing a talent pool split with the opening of Windermere High. Kiefer scored several of his goals on cross patterns in front of the goal. “Our teammates could always get open, me cutting to get open, just play as a team,” Kiefer said. “It was mostly on fastbreak, the defense would slide, they’d look across the field to me, and I got open.”   Read the rest HERE
