Columbus Catholic travelled to Palm Beach Central Monday night, coming away with the victory, 20-4. The Explorers, now 4-0 on the season, controlled the game from the opening possession, jumped out to a 13-2 half time lead and never looked back. The Broncos fell to 3-2. Leading scorers for the Explorers were: Attackmen Michael Bulnes (5 goals/1 assist), Alec Carreras (4 goals/ 2 assists) and Alex “Cachi” Gonzalez (3 goals/3 assists). Seniors Bulnes and Carreras now lead the Explorers in scoring on the season, with each having recorded 13 goals. Another solid effort from the defensive unit led by Brett Jacobs, Zach Garcia, Alec Cancio and LSM Matt Larrea frustrated the Broncos all night. This allowed Coach Jim DeLang to substitute liberally, resulting in fifteen players recording a goal or an assist for the Explorers. Goalies Jeffrey Eskra, Jon Nickas and Christian Sardina combined to record 8 saves on the night. Both teams are back in action Wednesday. The Explorers will host the LaSalle Royal Lions and Palm Beach Central will renew its cross town rivalry with Palm Beach Gardens.
