Cornell Ram’s head coach Lauren Martin has offered Morgan Champagne an academic scholarship which will allow Morgan to play lacrosse for the Ram’s in their inaugural NCAA Division-3 season in 2015! Cornell College is located in Mount Vernon, Iowa and will complete in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC). Morgan has played lacrosse at Coral Shores since she was a freshman and was one of the only players to bring prior experience with her to Coral Shores. Morgan played middle school lacrosse while living in New Hampshire, and was very happy to see lacrosse being played at Coral Shores when she moved to the Florida Keys. Morgan was named US Lacrosse Academic All American in 2013 and was also awarded Outstanding Attacker for 2013 as well with 13 goals and 2 assists on the season. Morgan has always been one of the most versatile players being able to play attack, midfield and defense at a high level. Morgan is also an officer for the CSHS chapter of the National Honor Society, a member of Key Club, Interact, and a 4-year member of the Swim Team. While at Cornell College, in addition to playing lacrosse, Morgan will be majoring in Microbiology with hopes of attending medical school and ultimately becoming an Oncologist. “On my visit to Cornell I got a real sense of “family” there… I discovered how much the professors and coaches care about their students. Cornell is an opportunity for me to participate in athletics, and have a big focus on my academics!” Morgan Champagne “We are thrilled that Morgan will have the opportunity to continue playing lacrosse at the next level. Cornell will discover that they have an outstanding player and a wonderful young lady. It’s exciting to think of how many players we’ve had coming out of our lacrosse programs and moving on to play collegiately. That is a great testament to our coaching staffs and the commitment of our student-athletes.” Rich Russell, Athletic Director, Coral Shores High School. “I know Morgan will be a stand-out both in the classroom and on the lacrosse field. I wish her all the best and hate to see her leave.” John Jarnagin, CSHS Assistant Coach, Girl’s Lacrosse “I could not be more proud of Morgan. She is our most versatile player, and plays at a high level no matter what position we ask her to play. I will miss my “go to girl” and wish her great success on and off the field at Cornell!” Cindy Hall, CSHS Assistant Coach, Girl’s Lacrosse “Morgan will be surely missed by the entire staff and players at Coral Shores. Morgan can always be counted on to work hard for her team as a player and as a team leader. I am happy that we get to have her for one more year, I know she will have a great season of lacrosse in 2014!” Mark Hall, CSHS Head Coach, Girl’s Lacrosse
