FIT Men: Florida Tech Rolls into Matchup with No. 4 Seton Hill

(Men’s Lacrosse) – Fresh off its largest come-from-behind victory in program history, Florida Tech (4-1) has little time to celebrate as it is set to face No. 4 Seton Hill in the second leg of a three-game spring break road trip on Wednesday, March 9 at 4 p.m. in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. In the first contest of the trip, the Panthers trailed Wheeling Jesuit 11-6 following a goal by Matt Lee with 9:42 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Panthers answered with two extra-man tallies that ignited a 5-0 fourth quarter run by FIT to tie the game with 22 seconds remaining and eventually win 12-11 in overtime off the crosse of Austen Zugelter. The game winner was one of two goals scored by Zugelter in the affair. Brian Bacarella and Cody Martin recorded five points apiece. The duo also combined for four man-up goals. Bacarella leads FIT with 15 points on a team-high 10 goals and five assists while Martin is second with nine goals and five assists for 15 total points. Charlie Morrisette has dished out a team-best seven assists to go along with four goals this season. Travis Wunder took every faceoff for Florida Tech, winning 15-of-24 while collecting four ground balls. He dominated the fourth quarter taking 5-of-6 to facilitate the Panthers’ comeback by creating a make-it-take-it situation at the X. For the season, Wunder has won 71-of-114 (.623) draws and leads FIT with 25 ground balls in five games. Christian Koch picked up his second win of the season while making three saves against the Cardinals. The Panthers opponent on Wednesday, 4th-ranked Seton Hill (4-0), enters with a 2-0 record at home this season with victories over Top-10 teams NYIT and Lindenwood. SHU needed to outscore Lindenwood 8-1 in the second half to comeback and beat the Lions 13-9 on March 5. Zach Hartmann led the Griffins with five points on four goals and an assist while Garrett Howell added two goals and three assists. Erik Hultgren and Nick Neferis notched two goals and one assist apiece. Howell is SHU’s leading points-getter with 13 on four goals and a team-leading nine assists through four games. Pacing the team in goals is Hartmann with eight to go along with four assists. Jack Moran has 11 points on four goals and seven assists while Hunter Hayes and Sean Stanners have contributed an identical stat line of seven goals and one assist.
