
Freshman Jake Lemon Scores 7 As Jesuit Escapes Gulf Coast 14-13

The Jesuit Tigers (5-1) hosted the Gulf Coast Sharks (3-3) on a very wet Saturday afternoon. The Sharks came in hungry for a victory with a lot of energy in the first quarter scoring the first 2 goals and ending the quarter up 5-4.
The rain was steady through out the game but it could not deter Tiger Freshmen Jake Lemon ‘s shining 7 goal performance. Lemon scored 4 of the first 5 goals scored by the Tigers. The half ended with Jesuit leading 8-7.
The third quarter was very low scoring with Jesuit getting only 1 goal Junior Gulf Coast goal keeper Erik Olguyn (9 saves) had 3 door step saves to keep the Sharks close while Gulf Coast Senior Bo Garrision (2g 3a) took advantage of a 1 minute locked in penalty on Jesuit to score 2 goals to tie up the score 9-9 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Jesuit opened up a 5 goal 14-9 lead in the first part of the 4th quarter and looked to be in control of the game. The Sharks fought back at about the 6 minute mark and cut the lead to within 1 goal 14-13 with less then 2 minutes remaining. Freshmen Tiger Goal Keeper Luke Garthwaite, standing in for Senior Chris Hamlin, had 6 saves on the day. Making 2 critical saves in the closing minutes to hold on to a Tiger victory. Jesuit (6-1) will travel to face district 15 opponent Jefferson High School (1-3) on Wednesday while Gulf Coast (3-4) will travel to district 27 opponent Naples (2-5) on Thursday.
