
FSC Men: Men’s Lacrosse Reveals 2017 Schedule

Author’s Note: Since the release the schedule has changed: The Moccasins will no longer face Adams State at home on March 22, and the March 28 match at Saint Leo has been moved to March 24 at 7 p.m.LAKELAND, FL – Florida Southern College men’s lacrosse head coach Marty Ward has released his team’s schedule for the 2017 regular season. The Moccasins will play 15 games, which include eight home contests at Bryant Stadium. The 2017 campaign marks FSC’s final season at Bryant Stadium before the Mocs will move to a new on-campus facility, the Barnett Athletic Complex, for the 2018 campaign. The 2017 slate features two home contests against Sunshine State Conference foes, as well as home games against a pair of non-conference opponents who appeared in last year’s NCAA Division II Tournament. Florida Southern opens the at home on Feb. 6 when it faces LIU Post. The Pioneers nearly upset Merrimack in the opening round last year’s NCAA Tournament, and finished the year ranked No. 6 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s (USILA) coaches poll after winning the East Coast Conference title. The Mocs will also face NYIT at home on March 3. The Bears were the runners-up to LIU Post in last year’s ECC tournament, finished the season ranked No. 7 by the USILA, and nearly upset eventual national champion Le Moyne in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Sandwiched between the home games with LIU Post and NYIT is a Feb. 28 contest against Lake Erie College, which ended last year ranked No. 11 in the USILA coaches poll, and a road trip to Wingate (Feb. 24) and Queens (Feb. 26). Queens (NC) came in at No. 20 in the final USILA coaches poll last season. Florida Southern opens SSC play at Saint Leo on March 28 and travels to Florida Tech on April 1. Saint Leo was ranked No. 19 in the final USILA coaches poll of 2017. Tampa, which won its third-straight SSC title last year, will visit Lakeland on April 5. The Spartans finished last year ranked No. 5 nationally and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament. The Mocs travel to Rollins on April 15 before wrapping up the regular season at home against Lynn on April 22. The 2017 slate also features road contests at Lincoln Memorial (March 8) and Indianapolis (March 11) as well as home games against Alabama-Huntsville (March 16), Colorado Mesa (March 19) and Adams State (March 22).
