The Lacrosse News Network, Inc, parent company of FloridaLacrosseNews.com, is proud to announce the inaugural LNN Florida Lacrosse Classic, slated for February 27th in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Hosting the event will be Oxbridge Academy and it will feature a lacrosse triple-header, highlighted by the 135th meeting between Cornell and Hobart, among the oldest rivalries in all of college lacrosse. The Big Red lead the series, which dates back to 1898, 84-46-4. Hobart led 8-7 with four minutes left in the game last season until Cornell rallied for a 12-8 victory. Cornell will be led by pre-season All-American Dom Massimilian while Hobart features most of its’ starting lineup coming back. Florida products Grant Mahler of Saint Andrew’s and Anthony Texeira of Bolles are members of the Cornell squad.
Two high school games will bookend the Cornell-Hobart tilt.
Three-time defending Florida state champion Lake Highland Prep, led by recently nationally profiled BU-commit Jackson Colling will face perennial Top 10 program, and 2014 state finalist, Benjamin School, led by ACC commits Andrew Packer (Maryland) and Wil Nicklaus (North Carolina), and Ohio State commit Colin O’Hare.
Oxbridge Academy, coached by Stan Ross, who also serves as Head Coach of the MLL franchise Florida Launch, features North Carolina recruit Brandon Hayek and his brother Colin, a Maryland recruit. They will be paired off with long-time Florida power and 20-time Florida state champion Saint Andrew’s, led by legendary head coach Tony Seaman and led by Albany commit Davis Diamond, among others.
