Newcomers: When you defeat a team in the Top 25 of the FAB 50 you are sure to garner some votes the following week and that happened with two of the six new teams that enter the rankings this week.
New No. 25 Summit (Summit, N.J.) got the most love from voters after defeating then No. 16 Delbarton 8-7. Immaculata (Somerville, N.J.) defeated then No. 19 St. Anthony’s (South Huntington, N.Y.) 11-10 in overtime to garner votes and enter the rankings at No. 42.
Also entering the rankings this week are J Serra Catholic (Calif.) at No. 34, St. Mary’s (Md.) at No. 43, Central Bucks East (Pa.) at No. 47 and Arapahoe (Colo.) at No. 48.
High Riser: St. Joseph’s Prep (Pa.) moves up 11 spots this week after defeating No. 41 Loyola-Blakefield (Md.) last week.
Surprise Team: It is tough to pick a surprise team this week, but Immaculata’s win over St. Anthony’s gets my vote. The Friars were a contender for the No. 1 spot in the preseason so an 0-2 start to the year comes as a surprise.
On the Cusp:Regis Jesuit (Colo.) could be the next team to get into the rankings next week as a 7-0 start and a win over St. Ignatius Prep (San Francisco, Calif.) moved them into the national debate.
FAB 50 Breakdown By State: N.Y. 16; MD 12; Pa. 7; N.J. 4; Calif. 1; Conn. 1; D.C. 1; Del. 1; Fla. 1; Ind. 1; Mich. 1; N.C. 1; Texas 1; Va. 1; Wash. 1.
Jupiter is hanging in there at number 50 and Lake Highland is once again on the cusp of making it into the  FAB 50.
