
Tampa’s Shane Giunta Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The University of Tampa’s Shane Giunta have been selected Sunshine State Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week presented by VALIC. Giunta, a freshman goalkeeper from Fayetteville, Ga., made his debut playing the final 34 minutes of the No. 5 Spartans 10-9 comeback victory over Colorado Mesa. Guinta’s play in net helped Tampa come back from five goals down. He made 10 saves and allowed just five goals on 22 shots. In his first career start, the freshman had to face Saint Leo in a battle of the conference unbeatens. Guinta came up big making 11 saves and allowing just six goals to lead the Spartans to a 9-6 victory. He earned two wins, made 21 saves and recorded a .656 save percentage.
