JU’s Derner wins NLC Player of Week award

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University sophomore attacker Morgan Derner has been named the National Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Week after an eight-goal performance.
Derner, from Lake Mary, Fla., scored her eight goals on just 10 shots in wins over Monmouth and Louisville last week. She had three goals against Monmouth and five against the Cardinals. She has a .800 shooting percentage and had two caused turnovers last week.
Derner was the nation’s leading scoring freshman last year but missed the first four games this season with a knee injury before returning March 7 against Temple.
The Dolphins meet Cornell today at noon at D.B. Milne Field. The game is scheduled to be shown on asun.tv.
