Thanks to Olivia Coiro Assistant Sports information Director of Lynn for the release   BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University men’s lacrosse head coach Brian Kingsbury excitedly announced the addition of six more names to the 2015 team roster on Thursday morning. Angelo Beacon-Paglia, Thomas Dudzik, Matthew Hobden, Ian Magnan II, Chad Mitchell and Nick Nehring will join 11 other signees to form the second recruiting class in program history. “We are very excited to expand our recruiting class with these individuals,” said Kingsbury. “They will have an immediate impact on our young program and will be great additions to the Lynn University community.” Chad Mitchell, a 6-foor-2 attack from Wakefield, R.I., is a versatile player that will see time at every position for the Fighting Knights. A graduate of South Kingstown High School, Mitchell played four years of lacrosse for the Rebels. He was named All-Division as a sophomore, junior and senior. During his freshman year he was named the Rookie of the Year and led the team in scoring as a sophomore and junior. “Chad [Mitchell] is a beast of a player who is similar to a fullback carrying the ball,” added the second year coach. “Considered one of the top five players in Rhode Island, Mitchell will see the field at the face-off position, offense and as a defensive midfielder.” Angelo Beacon-Paglia and Matthew Hobden will be key players joining Lynn’s midfield. Beacon-Paglia hails from San Ramon, Calif. The 5-foot-11 freshman played four years of lacrosse at California High School for the Grizzlies. “Angelo [Beacon-Paglia] will be the lone Californian on the team representing the west coast,” said Kingsbury. “He is an athletic midfielder who excels between the lines, a very important part of our system.” Hobden is a graduate of Barron Collier High School in Naples, Fla. During his senior campaign he led the Cougars to a 17-2 overall record, an improvement from the team’s 13-4 record his junior season. The righty is a nifty athlete that will find his spot in Lynn’s midfield. “As a natural righty midfielder, Matt [Hobden] played a selfless role on his state quarterfinalist high school team as a lefty attackman,” explained Kingsbury. “Tall and versatile, he is a local Floridian and we look forward to having him on our squad.” Looking to anchor Lynn’s defense in 2015 is Ian Magnan and Thomas Dudzik. Dudzik comes to Boca Raton from Wakefield, R.I., where he played lacrosse for the Providence Country Day School Knights. Standing at 6-fooot-1, he was named First Team All-Division as a junior and senior and also played three years of club lacrosse for Next Level. “Dudzik has a physical presence on the field and has a strong hockey background,” said Kingsbury. “He gets the ball on the ground, scoops it up easily, and can press transition; the kind of lacrosse we play at Lynn University.” Magnan is a 6-foot-1 defender from Pine Falls, Manitoba, Canada. A graduate of The Hill Academy, Magnan was his team’s captain for three years. He was a three-time Manitoba Field Lacrosse All-Star and helped lead his team to the Provincial Championship as a sophomore. “Ian [Magnan] will join current Fighting Knight Austin Jerhoff representing Canada on our team’s roster,” Kingsbury added. “A graduate of the renowned Hill Academy, he is a ruthless defenseman and opposing team’s will feel his wrath.” Standing at 5-foot-7 is goalkeeper Nick Nehring. A native of Corning, N.Y., he played three years of varsity lacrosse at Corning East High School. He was named an Under Armour Upstate All-American during his time with the Hawks. “As a lefty goalie that made the Under Armour Upstate New York team, Nehring will provide great competition between the pipes,” said Kingsbury.
