Lynn Men’s Lacrosse Blanked by the Lions

Saint Leo, Fla.- Lynn University’s lacrosse team (1-6) fell to Saint Leo (6-3), 11-0, in Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights fall to 0-2 in SSC play while the Lions advance to 2-0. Taylor Ferrino made 18 saves in goal for the Blue & White. Ferrino made seven saves in the first quarter, despite allowing six goals to slide through. The Lions defense held Lynn to just five shots in the opening 15 minutes of play. SLU added three more goals in the second quarter to lead 9-0 at half. The Blue & White’s defense held Saint Leo’s offense back for the third quarter only allowing just one goal, by Matt Weller with 1:40 to play, for the Lions to extend their lead to 11-0. In the fourth quarter Lynn took a game-high 10 shots but was unable to find the back of the net. The Lions scored their final goal with7:36 remaining in regulation when Ryan McCarthy notched his second goal of the contest. Chris D’Angelo won 9-of-14 face offs for the Fighting Knights while grabbing a team-high eight ground balls. The Lions offense was led by Matt Obermeyer who had four goals on five shots and Dylan Yonts who had a hat trick and dished out an assist. Lynn returns home to open the newly-constructed Bobby Campbell Stadium on Sunday, March 30, when the Fighting Knights host Colorado Mesa.
