Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Emmanuel 22-3 in the Season Opener

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s lacrosse team opened up their 2016 season with a 22-3 victory over Emmanuel College (GA) on Saturday, February 13th at University Turf Stadium.
Dylan Yonts would lead the Lions with five goals in the game as Jake Gilmour led the team in points with six, having two goals and four assists. Joe Donnian was second on the team in goals scored with four balls finding the back of the net on five shots.
In goal for the Lions, Dave Moore had six saves in 46:13 minutes played. Will Cothron led the team in groundballs as he scooped up nine in the game.
Saint Leo totaled 60 shots compared to Emmanuel’s 16 where the Lions held the advantage in ground balls as well, 47-11. Saint Leo’s faceoff contingent would win 22-of-29 faceoffs going 6-of-8 in the first quarter, 6-of-8 in the second, 6-of-7 in the third and 4-of-6 in the fourth quarter. Saint Leo ended the game with a perfect 18-of-18 on clears for the game.
