Oak Hall Runs Past Eastside

Eastside won the opening face off and held possession for the first minute until Oak Hall found their defensive footing. Thad Spiker stripped the ball and Evan Moorehouse picked up a GB and cleared it.
Oak Hall worked the ball around until they got Alex Constantinidis with a match up he liked. He made a great dodge and hit the right alley. Jon Karl Kuykendall came up with the first save but Phillip Yonge was there to pick up the rebound and Oak Hall was up 1-0 early.
It didn’t take long for the Oak Hall offense to really get rolling. The dodged hard and always looked for the back side opportunity. Eastside did a great job on the first slide but just could hit the fill and Oak Hall ended up with a lot of uncontested close shots on goal.
While the two teams were clearly at different points developmentally, Oak Hall did impress me with their speed and how they used it. Oak Hall players sprint everywhere with and without the ball. The offense was disciplined and was obviously well coached.
Every player on the offense cut through when a teammate was dodging in their direction and they kept the ball hot. All the fundamentals that coaches look for.
By the time it was over twelve different players scored for Oak Hall.
Some of my takeaways from the game.
1- Easily the cleanest lopsided game I have ever seen. One single technical penalty called in the hole game. Eastside head coach Paul Hollis is widely respected as one of the good guys Gainesville lacrosse scene and his guys reflected that.
2- Oak Hall is loaded with very talented freshman. Spiker twins, Alex and Thad are big fast d-poles. Jaxson Lamb on attack has great footwork and stick skills, and middie Jacob Hicks is a big part of this teams offense. These guys will be around for a while.
3- Jon Karl Kuykendall saw a lot of rubber in the cage. I’m giving this kid a shout out because he stood tall in there and made some stops on uncontested close range shots. These are not saves that should be made. In one instance he made three straight saves on point blank shots before they finally got one past him.
