IL’s 10 Who Impressed

Editor’s note – This is an excerpt from the IL article, please read the entire article at InsideLacrosse.com. FL Swashbucklers Congratulations are in order to Florida Swashbucklers, a team comprised of players from various high schools in the state’s southern Atlantic coast (Pope John Paul II, Wellington and Vero Beach to name a few). The Swashbucklers finished the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record, beating MD Roughriders in the championship game 8-5. The team played quick in the middle, weren’t afraid to play aggressive on defense, shot the ball extremely well and took advantage of opportunities. Notable offensive performers include Drew Minchew, Nick McCabe, Mike Urso and Johnny Hanlon, but the entire group worked fantastic together, especially in transition opportunities. Andrew Bolger, the head coach at Pope John Paul II, directed the squad. Swashbucklers Goalie Logan Masta Masta, who plays at Wellington, Fla., was also on fire in the title game, reeling a lot of what came his way in. He’s tall, made quick saves, held his footing in cage and did a nice job directly his defense. That’s such a tough job and such a great thing to watch live in action: ow does a goalie react on a leadership level, and how his defense responds (or doesn’t) to him. Connor Alexander, Defense, Blue Devils  Most polished player of the weekend and my pick for top recruit. Already committed to Duke, Alexander is a tall, athletic defender who can play great position, throw key checks for turnovers and run on wing. Has athleticism and IQ to play either position. Alexander is also another Florida recruit, from Jupiter High in the Palm Beach area. Please read the whole article and see the rest of the list at InsideLacrosse.com
