St. Andrew’s Girls Support Habitat For Humanity

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
St. Andrew’s new girls lacrosse coach Mike Skonieczki (we’re going to call him Coach S for the purposes of this article, in the tradition of Coach K at Duke, a pretty nice compliment) hit the ground running, starting with getting the team involved in the community.  Over the past four months they have been very active, becoming a campus charter with Habitat for Humanity.  In late November, they made one family’s dream come true with a brand new paint job of their home, brand new landscape and a new mailbox. Afterwards, Coach S was able to hang out with the family with another member of the team. Jackie Brenner, a ninth grader at SA and Coach S went to Publix and filled three carts full of food for the family.   Coach S is very proud of his players and their parents who made the night happen. Quoting Coach Skonieczki, ” It’s the small things that make a difference!” We were also able to get a comment from one of the SA players involved, senior Devin Borg: “This was one of the best days while I was a student athlete at SA. What we did for this family was tremendous. I’m proud of our team on and off the field.” Congratulations to the St. Andrew’s girls team and FLN hopes other teams will send us other similar stories. Happy New Year!
