The First Academy Royals (Orlando) improved their record to 4-0 with a victory over a tough Buchholz Bobcat (Gainesville) team. The game was marred by penalties on both sides with TFA being charged with 14 penalties on which Buchholz converted all ten of their goals. TFA got out to a 6-1 lead in the first quarter. The Bobcat’s would not give up brought the score to 9-5 at the half. The TFA defense tightened up play in the third quarter behind goalie Austin Cotton (16 saves on the night) and scoring by midfielder Luke West (7 goals, 2 assists) to take a comfortable 13- 5 lead heading into the last quarter. The fourth quarter was a flag fest for the officials with sloppy checks on both sides of the field; albeit sloppy the officials handed out penalties generously and evenly and the game was played with a high level of sportsmanship. The “don’t quit” Bobcats notched another 5 goals in the fourth quarter led by midfielder Finn Swanson 4/1 and attackman Kyle Hunziker 1/4. Isaac Anderson contributed 1 goal and 4 assists for the Royals. The final score Royals 16 – Bobcats 10.
