The Florida Elite team looked poised to become giant killers today as they took the field with plenty of swagger against a team which is literally full of D-1 commits.
The NY Sweetlax were heavy favorites but FL Elite came out swinging. Right from the opening face-off won for Sweetlax by Max Parker the Elite team swarmed Parker and forced a turnover. The first few minutes the teams exchanged possession and played even. Ground ball for ground ball and shot for shot the teams could not have been more evenly matched. Elite would eventually take advantage of a man up opportunity to take a one goal lead and break the ice.
Sweetlax would score the next two goals before Mikey Urso would add a pair of his own to give a one goal lead back to Elite. Sweetlax would tie it up at three and then take a one goal lead on an EMO with only seconds left in the first half.
The teams traded early goals in the second half to make it 5-4 Sweetlax. Sweetlax then put together a four goal run in about four minutes of play. Including a nice Face Off by Max Parker who ran the ball down the middle and then dumped the ball off to pick up the assist.
Florda Elite was able to stop the bleeding and the teams each traded one more goal to finish at 10-5. Other than the run by Sweetlax this game was played very even and some of the hardest, fastest, cleanest lacrosse we have seen at the tournament so far.
In the other Semi-Final game the Road Warriors defeated the Delaware Silverbacks 11-4 to set up the Sweetlax vs. Road Warriors final today at 12:30.
