UT Women: Rock Slip Past Spartans In Downpour 13-12

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women’s lacrosse fell to Slippery Rock University in a downpour.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Rock opened up the game with an early two-goal lead.
 - At 20:29, Caroline Forester was assisted by Amanda Rom to make it 2-1.
 - SRU came back with three goals to make it 5-1 with eight minutes left in play.
 - Allie Popelar, with help from Rom, made it 5-1.
 - SRU takes another two-goal jump to take a 7-2 lead before half-time.
 
- Tampa rallied back to decrease the deficit by four with a goal from Forester, her second of the game with an assist from Amanda Voges.
 - SRU took a free position shot to make it 8-3.
 - A man-down goal from Rom, her third point of the game made it 8-4.
 - Yet the Rock scores again.
 - With 22:33 left in the game Forester has back to back goals, one assisted by Rom. Now Tampa trailing by only three.
 - SRU makes it 10-6 with 18:40 left in the game.
 - Shannon Sweeney utilizes a free position to decrease SRU’s lead to 10-7.
 - Natalie Carraway does the same at 13:43, Tampa trailing by only two.
 - The Rock takes three goals, tallying 13 now.
 - Freshman Maggie Gladden with help from Popelar took Tampa to nine total goals.
 - Twenty seconds later Rachel Crawford has an unassisted goal.
 - Gladden comes through with two goals, less than a minute on the clock.
 - Despite a strong rally back, Tampa falls by one goal.
 
- Mackenzie Hackett racked up six groundballs with five saves.
 - Forester tallied four goals with three groundballs.
 - Rom snagged seven draw controls, two groundballs, three assists with one goal.
 - Gladden had three goals and one draw control.
